About the role:

We are seeking a versatile and motivated Bioinformatics Scientist to join our growing team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing and optimizing computational pipelines that support our high-throughput drug development system. If you are passionate about bioinformatics, have a high proficiency in coding, and are eager to make a significant impact in the field of drug discovery, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, implement, and maintain computational pipelines using Nextflow.
  2. Design and manage data visualization tools to support drug development R&D.
  3. Develop software solutions for reagent management and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  4. Architect and implement systems to track data and metadata throughout our workflow.
  5. Integrate and manage data using MongoDB.
  6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and deliver bioinformatics solutions.
  7. Troubleshoot and optimize existing pipelines to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  8. Stay current with the latest bioinformatics tools and technologies to continuously improve our processes.
  9. Contribute to the discovery of novel therapeutics.
  10. Utilize GitHub for version control, code collaboration, and project management.

Required skills:

  1. Expert proficiency in at least 1 scriptable coding language such as Python, R, C++, or Java.
  2. Experience with Nextflow and Groovy for bioinformatic workflow management.
  3. Strong knowledge of data visualization techniques and tools.
  4. Experience with MongoDB or similar database management of large data.
  5. Experience with GitHub for version control and production caliber code.
  6. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  7. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and cross-disciplinary team.
  8. Strong communication skills to effectively convey complex technical information.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  2. Experience with high-throughput data analysis.
  3. Experience with biological data and methods.

Experience:

  1. Domain knowledge in immunology and antibody engineering.
  2. Machine learning experience.
  3. Image processing experience.

Compensation Range: $100,000/yr-150,000/yr

On-Site Protocol: Recruiting candidates within a 1-hour commute of Carlsbad, CA for a nominally in-person position with a great team.
