This role is essential in building strong client relationships, expanding our market presence, and sourcing quality scrap metal and recyclable materials.

Role Overview
The ideal candidate has a background in sales and purchasing within the recycling or metals industry, exceptional negotiation skills, and a keen understanding of market trends. As the Account Manager & Commercial Buyer, you’ll play a vital role in driving growth, ensuring the highest standards of customer satisfaction, and optimizing purchasing strategies to support our mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Account Management
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients, ensuring high satisfaction and repeat business.
    • Implement strategies to retain and grow existing accounts, maximizing profitability and uncovering additional opportunities.
    • Serve as the main point of contact for client inquiries, promptly addressing issues and maintaining transparent communication.
  • Commercial Buying
    • Source and purchase a variety of scrap metals and recyclable materials, meeting our quality standards and operational needs.
    • Conduct thorough market research to identify and evaluate suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and pricing.
    • Track commodity prices and trends to make informed purchasing decisions that maximize margins.
  • Business Development
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the scrap metal and recycling industry.
    • Develop a strategic growth plan to expand our customer base, targeting industries and companies that benefit from our services.
    • Represent Atlas Iron & Metal at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to build brand awareness and relationships.
  • Operational Coordination
    • Collaborate with the operations team to ensure purchased materials meet quality standards and align with inventory requirements.
    • Coordinate logistics to guarantee timely delivery and efficient movement of materials across the supply chain.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in account management and/or commercial buying, ideally in the recycling, scrap metal, or commodities industries.
  • In-depth knowledge of the scrap metal and recycling markets, including current trends and pricing.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Analytical mindset with a detail-oriented approach and experience making data-driven decisions.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
