Key job responsibilities
- Drive the engineering and supply chain teams to optimize BOM+MVA cost below target.
- Negotiate component costs managed by the contract manufacturer.
- Track the program actual costs versus target to identify program deltas and corrective actions to bring back on track.
- Host monthly executive management cost reviews that deep dive through every aspect of your product cost.
- Determine the Supplier Plan of Record to ensure the optimal mix of suppliers, balancing cost, quality, and supply continuity.
- Manage device-level component qualification, working with engineering, product integrity, quality, and regulatory teams to ensure components are fully qualified before mass production and approve purchases.
- Perform competitive cost analysis.
- Provide cost estimates for early engagement concepts and products, including providing cost reduction options.
- Attend program new product introduction meetings to understand the cost implication of engineering and/or process changes as related to your product fully loaded cost targets.
- Work with the OEM/ODM to set your product purchase order cost for the upcoming period, and manage purchase price variance claims resulting from engineering changes, component obsolescence or forecast variance.
A day in the life
The Senior Materials Program Manager has a business orientation and is responsible for working within the local and remote operations and engineering teams driving development, implementation and management of the product budget. This person is the business voice responsible for capturing, documenting and communicating financial exposures and outlay as it relates to their product. They are involved throughout all stages of the product family's life-cycle to ensure Lab126 achieve all financial targets through end-of-life. They will support weekly executive product line reviews outlining performance against budget, target and actual cost.
About the team
Sr. MPM role is part of an Operations core team that partners with engineering and manufacturing to drive New Product Introduction (NPI) products from concept, development and into Mass Production (MP).
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree
- 6+ years of developing, negotiating and executing business agreements experience
- Experience developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at the organizational level
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience in procurement practices working with engineering, supply chain and Tier 1 OEM partners.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations
- Experience identifying, negotiating, and executing complex legal agreements
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience with consumer electronics, TV, medical devices, or wearable devices
- Ability to prioritize tasks and maximize internal resources.
- Experience leading and defining requirements and driving closure.
- Agile or other PLM system experience.
- Proven record of relationship building / influencing skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, building relationships

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $220,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
