Project Engineer (Global Chemical Manufacturing - Process & Capital Projects)

Pave Talent hiring on behalf of our client - a global leader in naturally derived specialty ingredients with over $1B in annual revenue. We're seeking an experienced Project Engineer to drive capital projects and process improvements at their manufacturing facility in Gurnee, IL.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead capital projects from conception to completion, including estimation, justification, and budget management
  • Develop and implement engineering solutions for manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Conduct detailed engineering and safety reviews for facility improvements
  • Supervise contractors and coordinate with site departments during project execution
  • Provide expert guidance on technical systems and process-related challenges
  • Establish manufacturing standards and monitor plant performance metrics
  • Support operations and maintenance teams with day-to-day activities
  • Participate in HAZOP studies and safety-based facility upgrades
  • Collaborate with finance team on capital budgeting and forecasting

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related engineering field
  • 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant project/process engineering experience
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing equipment including:
  • Piping systems
  • Heat exchangers
  • Pumps and valves
  • Pressure vessels
  • Boilers and chillers
  • Air compressors
  • Strong understanding of electrical distribution and controls
  • Experience with instrumentation, PLCs, and DCS
  • Proven ability in problem-solving and root cause analysis

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a PSM (Process Safety Management) environment
  • AutoCAD proficiency
  • Background in chemical manufacturing or specialty ingredients
