Job Description and Qualifications
Recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Baton Rouge for 2024 , J H Operating Company, LLC, an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction firm primarily supporting the upstream and midstream oil and gas industry, has an opening in Baton Rouge, LA for a Staff-Level Project Engineer.
The Engineer will manage projects from concept to commissioning by participating in the design, specification, procurement, and project management of each facility. The role will support the team on primarily new capital industrial infrastructure projects such as multi-well production facilities, large central gathering stations, oil terminals, and saltwater disposals.
The position will report to Karla Orth, the Company’s Vice President of Engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Client engagement, treating the client with respect and professionalism at all times.
- Understand and manage your performance to promote JH teamwork and culture, while enhancing customer satisfaction.
- Maintain confidentiality of all JH and customer information.
- Gather project requirements, develop designs to meet the client’s needs, size and procure equipment, manage construction logistics, review invoices, and facilitate client handover (concept to commissioning).
- Participate in reviews of PFD's, P&ID's, Piping ISOs, & Structural Drawings.
- Participate in project cost estimates, engineering proposals, and equipment selection.
- Monitor quality control and quality assurance programs.
- Manage existing Pipe Specifications and create future specifications.
- Develop piping material and material procurement specifications.
- Conduct flexibility and stress analysis of moderately complex piping systems.
- Support the team on rotating equipment and system design/specification.
- Participate in the hazard review process and other safety evaluations.
- Process design supported by experience, ProMax, and other in-house tools.
- Participate and help plan field-commissioning activities including Pre-Startups Safety Reviews (PSSR) and Commissioning.
- Perform cost estimation to create AFEs for internal and external stakeholders.
- Estimate timelines and work for internal and external stakeholders.
- Site consultant and vendor management during project execution.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- B.S. in an Engineering discipline from an accredited, 4-year university with a minimum 3.3 GPA.
- 12 or more years of experience in Upstream Oil & Gas (oilfield).
- Ability to make balanced decisions weighing operability, reliability, capital costs, and operating costs.
- Familiarity with API, ASME, and ANSI standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with clients, project team members, and other staff. Domestic travel is required (estimated at 10 – 15%).
- Ability to pass an in-depth drug screening.
- Legally allowed to operate a motor vehicle.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in Upstream Oil & Gas.
- Autodesk Experience.
