Position Overview
TOCCI is seeking an Estimator to join our Planning and Cost Engineering (P+CE) team, based in Woburn, MA, with occasional travel to jobsites and partner offices across the Greater Boston area. Reporting to the Vice President of Planning + Cost Engineering, this role is ideal for a self-motivated professional who thrives on precision and foresight in estimating constraints and opportunities. As an Estimator, you’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional preconstruction solutions, ensuring TOCCI remains a trusted and responsive partner for our clients.

Responsibilities

Planning + Cost Engineering

  • Drive continuous improvement in cost engineering procedures and processes.
  • Assume responsibility for assigned estimates and participate in team delivery of group-produced project estimates.
  • Solicit subcontractor/vendor interest, manage bid distribution, and evaluate bids to assemble complete bid packages.
  • Evaluate subcontractor bids and assemble complete bid packages.
  • Thoroughly review and analyze project documents, including plans and specs to prepare time, cost and labor estimates for projects and services.
  • Collaborate with VDC team to analyze, extract and integrate model-based (BIM) quantity take-offs into project estimations.
  • Ensure comprehensive project scope coverage and deliver polished presentations of project cost estimates and other deliverables through email, MS Teams, Zoom, or in person.
  • Engage in preconstruction tasks to develop project feasibility budgets, progress estimates, value engineering, Target Value Design, and project schedules to exceed client expectations.
  • Support project teams and operations with cost estimating for project change orders.
  • Participate in client presentations and interviews.

Procurement

  • Support project procurement efforts by working closely with project management teams ensuring cost and quality are balanced to meet project requirements.
  • Develop and nurture positive relationships with subcontractors and vendors, to improve responsiveness and streamline collaboration with TOCCI.

Desired Skills + Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of sitework, foundations, mechanical systems, utility installations, and soil remediation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, OST and Estimating Software, Microsoft Project, and Procore (or equivalent systems).
  • Strategic problem-solver with the ability to anticipate and address challenges swiftly and effectively.
  • Proven ability to negotiate challenges with internal and external groups and foster accretive relationships.
  • Demonstrated character/integrity and the ability to support the company, its values, and fellow employees while exceeding customer expectations.

Physical + Travel Requirements

  • Ability to operate computers and other devices with fine motor skills.
  • Good hearing and vision skills.
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally for site visits and meetings (approximately 20% of the time).
