Keys to the Position:

  1. Must have strong hands-on experience with Intune and Microsoft Configuration Manager (MCM)
  2. Ability to prepare Operating Systems (OS) for corporate use
  3. PowerShell and scripting as a Desktop Engineer is required. Open to other hands-on scripting experience.
  4. Must have experience with “Modern Management”
  5. Working onsite in Needham MA (3 to 4 days a week)

The Position

We are seeking a Desktop Engineer/Architect with 2 or more years of experience in Desktop Engineering to join the Workplace Technology Infrastructure Engineering Team. This role will provide global technical expertise and design technology solutions for the End-User Team.


Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:

  1. Perform Software Packaging tasks in preparation for deployment via Microsoft Configuration Manager and Intune
  2. Use and optimize Intune Policies to help bring “Modern Management” to clients
  3. Prepare new Microsoft Windows OS versions for use within Intune for Physical and Virtual use
  4. Leverage “Modern Management” to update new software and drivers from Intune
  5. Work with leadership to define and enforce the Desktop Architectural Standards and identify areas for improvement
  6. Assist in the overall design, installation, and integration of IT Desktop solutions throughout the enterprise
  7. Track technology and market trends to acquire knowledge on new and existing technologies that could best serve our Desktop architecture needs
  8. Analyze business cases for upgrading existing infrastructure technologies or implementing a new infrastructure solution
  9. Train other IT professionals (tier 1 and tier 2 support) on the developed solutions and expected impact
  10. Mentor new employees on the team's policy and procedures

Skills Experience

  1. 2-5 Years of experience in Desktop Engineering or similar discipline
  2. Understand infrastructure security best practices such as zero-trust, least-access, MFA, etc.
  3. Experience in implementing and managing enterprise configuration management tools such as Microsoft Configuration Manager, Intune, and Ivanti
  4. High familiarity with building and customizing Windows and Thin (iGel/Wise) images
  5. Understanding of creating and managing reports using technologies such as PowerBI and SQL Server
  6. Exposure to Cloud-based technologies such as Azure, AVD, and AWS
  7. High level of technical expertise with Microsoft products such as Office 365, Teams, and Active Directory
  8. Strong understanding of Azure Runbooks and Microsoft Graph API for automation to convert repeatable processes and solutions to automatic operations
  9. Understand ITIL best practices and processes and Project Management Methodology (PMM) fundamentals
  10. Demonstrated skill in solving problems with coding such as PowerShell, VBscript, or Python
  11. Knowledge of post-implementation environments and ability to follow through on Day 2 to ensure infrastructure stability

Written and Oral Communication Skills

  1. The ability to speak with clarity on technical issues in various professional settings
  2. Tailoring the message to the audience - conveying complex technical concepts down to a level listeners can understand
  3. Provide persuasive feedback regarding the best approach to resolving systemic and singular problems (may include communication via telephone, in person, presenting to large groups, etc.)
  4. Ability to write complex documents (may include policies, procedures, instructions, and/or presentations)
  5. Ability to work independently with minimal direction or oversight and with a group/team

Estimated Min Rate : $45
Estimated Max Rate : $65
