Job Title: Global Data and Solution Architect – Data & Analytics
Contract: 12 Months (Renewable)

Work Experience and Education

  • An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in computer science, information science, management information systems, a related field, or equivalent experience relevant to this position.
  • 10+ years experience working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
  • 10+ years IT domain experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • 8+ years experience designing and implementing data solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS), using product offerings such as: Databricks, Informatica, S3, Athena, Glue, EMR, Lambda, RDS, EC2, DynamoDB, Elasticache, Redshift, Neptune, and Kinesis.
  • 4+ years experience using data management and analysis tools such as Databricks, Informatica, RStudio/Posit, Immuta, and ETL tools like Informatica.
  • Strong knowledge of AI data preparation and the tools available as well as their implementation and usage.
  • Deeply passionate about learning and innovating using leading-edge and next solutions in big data engineering, cloud, and open source.
  • Sound understanding of various data solution patterns and when to use them. Examples include: ETL/ELT, RDBMS, Data Vault and Data Warehousing techniques, Normalization/De-normalization, Key-Value, In-Memory, Wide Column, Columnar, Graph, Text-Indexing, Vector, Partitioning, Streaming, and Messaging.
  • Strong software engineering and object-oriented programming skills with expertise in SQL, Python, Scala, R, and Java; including open-source frameworks/libraries, such as Spark, Airflow and streaming services.
  • Strong data architecture, data warehousing, data modeling and data wrangling skills using SQL, Stored Procedures, Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL.
  • Knowledge of traditional big data systems, such as Hadoop, Impala, Sqoop, Oozie, and Cassandra, and Redshift.
  • Hands-on experience with various Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau and PowerBI .

Job Summary

The Global Data and Solution Architect – Data & Analytics will lead multiple initiatives, solutions, and teams within Client Global Data & Analytics technology organization. Reporting directly to the Global Data & Analytics Technology Lead, this role contributes to establishing a future-proof architecture and associated IT services supporting data, analytics, and AI globally.

The technology lead will work collaboratively with global EIT leaders and peers, business stakeholders, consultants, technology vendors, and Client managed service providers to deliver successful technical projects that meet complex business requirements, providing a cohesive and unified data strategy and implementation.

They are responsible for the co-creation, architecture, design, development, and implementation of the data, analytics, and AI architectures and reference frameworks supporting global businesses. They will lead and be responsible for participating in the strategic planning and hands-on engineering of solutions and cloud environments that support advanced analytics, data science, AI, and other data platform initiatives.

Essential Functions

  • Inspires, leads, and directs the technical data & analytics teams to promote the capabilities and adoption of business intelligence, analytics, and AI solutions throughout the company.
  • Manages, advises, and coaches peers, technical product owners, IT business analysts, data scientists, data architects & engineers, solution architects, and application/report developers regarding the activities of data & analytics.
  • Co-creates (designs and implements) enterprise operating models for data and analytics for both global and federated capabilities and how they interact.
  • Coaches and mentors operational support teams on technical concepts, designs, and system functionality.
  • As a technology strategist, contributes to the Data and Analytics business strategy, while owning the technology enablement strategy, including the execution plan and associated budget planning.
  • Works collaboratively across the organization to build the data ingestion, storage and/or virtualization structures needed to support our next data products, self-service analytics, and data democratization initiatives.
  • Defines a future state technology architecture to support data and analytics (ingestion, integration, storage, consumption, governance, and security).
  • Enables operational efficiency and effectiveness providing governed data democratization as an output.

  • Familiarity with information management practices, system development life cycle (SDLC) management, IT services management, agile and lean methodologies.
  • Experience in managing application/system changes in accordance with computer system validation, 21 CFR Part 11 and GxP policies.

Domain Knowledge

  • Experience in enabling product development through the use of big data analytics and data science solutions and familiarity with pharma functions and processes.
  • Strong technical knowledge of life science production systems.
