The Finance Manager for the People Experience & Technology (PXT) Finance Compensation will provide financial insights and business partnership to Amazon's Worldwide PXT Compensation and related technical support teams. This highly visible finance role will provide reliable data and analysis to help with decision making and planning, as well as become a trusted business advisor to the leaders of our PXT organization. The ideal candidate is a quick learner and comfortable with ambiguity. S/he possesses a keen attention to detail, has a passion for analytics, problem-solving and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. The role entails interaction with PXT leadership, Finance leadership, Accounting and Payroll teams and requires a balance of strong verbal and written communication, partnership skills, and delivering results.

This is a perfect position for someone who knows how to manage fast and smart and deals well with ambiguity. You will also provide the business with big leadership bringing a deep knowledge and a proven record of accomplishment. Position Responsibilities:

1. Conduct financial analysis and strategic planning in support of business groups. 2. Partner with vice president and/or director and category/business leaders in setting profitability, business expansion, and product selection goals. 3. Work directly for business leaders and cross-functional teams to present results of ad hoc business and statistical analysis and recommendations to senior management for optimal decision making. 4. Develop and automate reporting of key performance metrics and analysis to achieve business goals. 5. Perform business and financial forecasting and spreadsheet modeling by writing complex SQL queries to gather the financial and operational data needed for the analysis and using advanced excel spreadsheet modeling techniques. 6. Review and measure financial and operational performance on a weekly basis with business team and report to senior management using financial and operational metrics, including performing ad-hoc audits of the financial metrics used for data accuracy. 7. Work on monthly close process working closely with accounting to ensure the validity of the financials and report results to senior management. 8. Oversee and review bi-yearly operational planning activities for detailed business level budgeting and forecasting, and create detailed financials plans. 9. Update the detailed financial plans on a regular basis. 10. Work with business teams to create daily forecasts based on the previously created monthly forecasts. 11. Define reporting methodologies. 12. Create new reporting, maintain and run reports using tools such as Excel, Essbase, Cognos, and SQL. 13. Conduct financial, statistical and business analyses, business and financial forecasting, and financial spreadsheet modeling, using a broad range of tools and technologies. 14. Track down and identify sources of data, determine the validity of the data, and analyze the variance in the data between various systems and reports. 15. Partial telecommuting permitted; employees will be required to report to office multiple days per week.





Key job responsibilities
• Providing business partner finance support to the leaders of PXT Compensation teams related to compensation modeling, planning, analysis, metrics, and reporting
• Diving deep into the financial data and becoming a subject matter expert to provide additional insights
• Partnering directly with the Finance Org's and central FP&A groups to collaborate on metrics, goals, variance analysis and business reviews;
• Building and fostering effective relationships and networks with the PXT and Finance organizations
• Proven ability to manage a team with competing priorities & provide level-headed guidance during unexpected events
• Partner with PXT compensation team to develop financial models that quantify the cost impact of proposed compensation changes
• Provide financial insights to senior operations and finance leadership for the hourly field workforce
• Liaise between PXT compensation and local business finance teams to align on budget and forecast of people cost
• Provide ad hoc support to executive leadership and business finance teams across Amazon for inquiries around cost per head
• Develop and streamline processes around finance approvals for on- and off-cycle compensation changes
• Collaborate cross-functionally with tech teams in finance and compensation to develop automated solutions for recurring analysis and data access

- 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- 5+ years of multiple finance and accounting roles experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics or business, or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience

- 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
- MBA, or CPA
- Knowledge of Python Pandas and time-series forecasting packages
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
