By crafting these distinct, multidisciplinary user experiences, you’ll continue to uphold and advance the excellence people expect from Apple devices.The Embedded Runtimes team in Core OS is looking for an outstanding quality engineer to join a team responsible for ensuring the quality of key firmware and software technologies across all of Apple’s product lines. The ideal candidate is proficient with Python 3, familiar with C and C++, familiar with software development processes, system-level software in particular, and has shown a history of tight-knit collaboration with their software team.Your main focus will be designing test plans, developing tests and supporting diagnostics, creating automating test flows, and supporting our validation and triaging processes across our development lifecycle. We work with systems in all phases of development, from pre-silicon simulation, to sample bring-up, to already-shipping systems. As such, you’ll be developing tests that will run across simulation, FPGA, new products, and existing products. You’ll be working as a peer to the software team that maintains existing and develops new Firmware features across Apple’s line of products.
Description
As a Quality Engineer, your responsibilities include designing test plans, developing test suites in Python, creating automated test flows and pre-submission validation, triaging failures and following up with responsible team(s) for fixes. Additionally, you will work closely with other quality engineers in adjacent teams and work to maintain a fleet of lab machines and associated CI automation.
Minimum Qualifications
- A passion for quality in consumer products
- Strong Python 3 experience and programming skills
- Experience with test development for firmware, device drivers, and/or kernel
- Experience with development and deployment of automated test suites

- Experience with continuous integration frameworks (such as Jenkins) and a git-based development flow
- Proven track record of accomplishing test campaigns on time
- Consistent record of capturing meaningful test results
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Hands-on approach and willingness to tackle new challenges
- Familiarity with continuous-integration standard processes a plus
- Familiarity with C/C++
