JMET is an unusual security engineering group within Apple IS&T. We provide critical services for the company across every product line. From manufacturing to customer facing, our services span across the entire lifecycle of most Apple hardware. We are responsible to design, implement and support the ongoing need to improve customer safety and privacy by providing security services that are tightly coupled with hardware. Many of our services are seen in iOS Security Guide or publicly discussed on Internet forums. As an engineer, you will participate in initiatives that are essential to the success of upcoming product launches and product security initiatives. You will also work with large multi-functional teams to align the expectations and validate work you're doing.
Description
You like to automate anything which you do and you document it for the benefit of others. You are an independent problem-solver who is self-directed and capable of exhibiting deftness to handle multiple simultaneous competing priorities and deliver solutions in a timely manner. Provide incident resolution for all technical production issues. Create and maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation reflecting configuration, and responsible for writing justifications, training users in complex topics, writing status reports, documenting procedures, and interacting with other Apple staff and management. Provide guidance to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of systems. Determine future needs for capacity and investigate new products and/or features. Strong troubleshooting ability will be used daily; will take steps on their own to isolate issues and resolve root causes through investigative analysis in environments where the candidate has little knowledge/experience/documentation. Administer and ensure the proper execution of the backup systems. Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge in at least one scripting language. (Go/Python Preferred)
- Experience in Computer Science Fundamentals.
- Relevant Internship Experience in DevOps or SRE.
- Interest in CI/CD, Containerization, AWS, or Tooling.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Key Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Splunk/Grafana or similar for investigating or monitoring problems on systems.
- Familiar with tools such as Jenkins, Sonar, Artifactory, Docker Registry.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes concepts such as Networking, Storage, Secrets.
- Desire to write tools and applications to automate work rather than do everything by hand.
- Ability to analyze complex problems, quickly develop creative solutions, and adapt to a fast paced environment.
- Understanding of Linux users, groups, filesystems and process handing.
- Familiar with Cloud providers such as AWS or GCP, load balancer concepts preferred.
