There are over 2500 Delivery Service Partners (DSPs) that delight customers everyday as the chief delivery option in the North America Last Mile space. This role would own the optimization strategy for how many DSPs Amazon needs to service each and every local geography as demand and supply constraints continuously change. This team leader would drive capacity product strategy with partnership from leaders from upstream volume planning teams and downstream field execution teams. They also would be at the forefront of our growing partnership between DSP and our data science partners as we expand into new programs and markets.

Key job responsibilities
- Lead a team of Amazonians to drive new applications our core product
- Expand our efforts into new programs and geographies that each have unique planning needs
- Own the roadmap for Data Science applications of our work and partnership with our Data Science partners
- Design processes to incorporate planning inputs in a scalable manner
- Build partnerships with upstream planning functions to proactively adapt to planning variations.
- Work cross-functionally with field operations and functional leaders to drive influence in capacity planning and management.

A day in the life
This role solves a giant optimization problem. The team broadly takes demand inputs and DSP supply estimations to understand where there may be capacity gaps and designs recommendations (in partnership with downstream teams) to address those gaps. This historically has been a mix of art and science, but we are looking for a leader who can push this more towards the science side of things and build more scalable processes for how we address capacity imbalances.

About the team
Team members need to both know their data and know their partner teams. Capacity planners need to understand what drives volume variability. But after that they need to earn trust with partner teams to build alignment on our strategies to fulfill needed volume. The team is always encouraged to not just find band-aids to one off problems, but think about how to build new mechanisms to solve the global underlying issue.

- 7+ years of team management experience

- Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization
