Amazon’s Transportation Risk and Compliance (TRC) protects Amazon’s transportation businesses by implementing scalable risk management solutions that enable business growth. TRC is looking for a Sr. Manager, Risk to drive Amazon's Department of Transportation (DOT) Program. The ideal candidate will be an entrepreneurial, innovative leader who can deliver best-in-class regulatory compliance programs. This individual can digest regulatory requirements, set a vision, drive alignment with cross-functional leaders, and develop team members to bring the vision to light. In executing this role, you will partner with several internal departments serving all of Amazon's transportation fleets (e.g. Amazon Air, Middle Mile, Last Mile, etc.) and external regulators and agencies. You will have a key role in guiding business policies, operating models, goals, priorities and technology solutions. You will maintain the company’s corporate license and oversee the operation of drug and alcohol testing and driver qualification for regulated drivers on that license. You will be the lead point of contact for the company to regulators and hold accountability for responses to inquiries. In doing so, you will employ subject matter expertise, strong judgement, calculated risk-taking, data-backed analysis, and bench-marking from industry experts. You will be at the cutting edge of legislative developments, and look around corners for potential opportunities or obstacles relevant to Amazon's fleets. You will analyze gaps in the company's infrastructure and propose solutions. As a regulatory leader, you will set a high bar across the team for regulatory accuracy, and show bias for action in developing creative solutions to improve Amazon's compliance. As a team leader, you will foster an inclusive environment and help grow the careers of the risk managers in your team.



Key job responsibilities
• Work cross-functionally with internal (e.g. business, compliance, public policy, legal) and external partners (e.g. regulatory agencies, outside counsel) to understand the regulatory risks and developments applicable to Amazon’s transportation fleets.
• Develop and maintain subject matter expertise on applicable DOT regulations, e.g. FMCSA, FAA, etc.
• Manage decision-making with a data driven approach; design and monitor important KPIs and compliance metrics
• Design the DOT strategy for the organization, generate a clear vision for the team and effectively deliver for customers against it
• Utilize strong judgement in prioritizing and balancing risk management concerns with corporate and organizational needs
• Exhibit leadership and develop team members to meet a high bar and succeed in their career goals


- Bachelor’s degree - 10+ years experience interpreting and applying legislation and policy
- 5+ years responding to or working closely with regulators
- 5+ years managing cross-functional teams
- Experience in Department of Transportation compliance - Experience working cross-functionally with internal teams (e.g. business, public policy) and external associations
- Strong writing, communication and project management skills
- An ability to design and interpret meaningful KPIs and metrics


- Experience in Department of Transportation compliance
- Working knowledge of emerging technology in the vehicle, air and transportation industries

The base pay for this position ranges from $142,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $236,000/year in our highest geographic market.
