Description
The Aesthetics Engineer wields technical production experience and domain expertise in photography or image processing. They will develop and implement new functionalities that push the boundaries of imaging technology in practical and delightful ways. This role requires strong analytical skills to distill complex, open-ended problem spaces into effective engineering solutions that stay true to the scope of the problem.This is a highly collaborative role with the opportunity to evolve into different areas of expertise.
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience working in the technical realm of photographic aesthetics — through scripting, automation design and related methods of working effectively with large image sets.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, articulate and technically execute a broad range of contemporary photographic aesthetics across the imaging preference space at the highest level, regardless of personal tastes and perspectives.
- Professional proficiency in photographic post-processing, creative imaging tools, color science, image quality, gamut mapping, High Dynamic Range imaging, and other computational photography techniques.
- Professional proficiency with troubleshooting issues related to camera software and image quality on embedded desktop and mobile platforms

- Demonstrated professional familiarity with creative suite design and development, photographic/motion image production, and/or industry-standard level image processing.
- Prototype and experiment with new ideas to improve visual quality, editing capabilities, and user experience across aesthetic preferences.
- Solid understanding of camera systems, sensors, and ISPs
- Passion for photography, video, and delivering high-quality user experiences
- Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional, and fast-paced environment with excellent communication skills
- MS/PhD degree in CS/CE/EE, an imaging-related degree, or equivalent experience

- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
