At the Body-sensing Intelligence Group (BIG), we bring together experts from a wide range of disciplines to craft new experiences through machine learning that power next generation wearables. We are looking for a Senior ML Research Scientist to innovate and implement cutting edge deep learning algorithms to power future Apple products. In this role, you'll be part of a team of researchers and technical leads from ML, HW, and SW backgrounds, and will work cross-functionally with engineers, designers, and prototypers to enable shipping algorithms and experiences that improve the lives of Apple customers.

Description

You will be working with both junior and senior engineers and researchers internally and cross functionally. Your core responsibilities will be to lead or co-lead the design, implementation, and testing of algorithms, and methods for debugging and diagnosing ML algorithms and their adaptation. You will formulate research questions, plan experiments, and implement solutions. You will be responsible to find architectures best suitable for the user experiences and sensors being developed in-house, and efficiently communicate findings. You will work with multi-functional engineering teams, defining dependencies on hardware/software/algorithms/etc. You will be a team ambassador in all interactions and help prioritize and execute on partners’ requests.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong signal processing knowledge
  • Strong software development skills, with proficiency in Python and relevant libraries such as numpy, scipy, sklearn, pandas
  • Experience working with EXG (ECG/EMG/EEG/etc) modalities
  • Experience with state-of-the-art deep learning techniques, architectures, and frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow
  • Experience with processing and training models for time-series signals
  • PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related field, or MS in related field with 5+ years of industry experience

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
