Apple’s Graphics, Games, and Machine Learning organization is looking for a highly motivated manager to drive the evolution our graphics compositing and window server architecture found in Apple’s products such as iPhone, iPad, AppleTV, Apple Vision Pro and Mac. Our compositing and window server frameworks are integrated tightly with our UI rendering frameworks, graphics accelerations, display controllers and virtual display systems to provide best of class performance and user experience with the highest visual quality.

Description

We are searching for a senior engineering manager to lead the team responsible for developing the next generation modern graphics compositing architecture and window server architecture. The ideal candidate would have previous technical leadership experience, graphics compositing, windowing systems, GPU driver experience, a solid understanding of common color and display formats. You are willing to learn about new technologies. Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:- Lead and mentor a team of dedicated framework engineers.- Lead feature development, implementation of new API’s and functionality, support for new HW accelerations - Innovate on new features that will be adopted within Apple by other teams.- Handle challenging inbound executive escalations around product quality, including critical stability and security issues.- Understand and work closely with display HW team, higher level framework clients and lower level driver teams

Minimum Qualifications

  • Consistent track record of leading large teams and projects in a fast paced environment for at least 5 years
  • Has formed teams and hired first and second level managers
  • Has mentored managers through balancing priorities, project deliverables and career growth
  • Experience organizing teams with an eye on building a scalable collaborative organization

  • Experience with framework development and familiar with realtime systems
  • Strong grasp and practical experience with graphics and rendering API’s
  • A background in Graphics rendering, UI compositing frameworks a rendering pipelines a plus
  • Familiar with common video and graphics formats, knowledge of displays and display subsystem
  • Device driver development a plus
  • Experience with general operating system concepts
  • Curiosity about taking on development of processes that promotes scalability through “design for testability”, modularity, development and use of common design patterns

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $219,300 and $378,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
