To help us achieve this, we’re seeking a driven Hazardous Waste Coordinator. With a strong Bias for Action, you would need to help drive health and safety in one of our Fulfillment Centers.
Our Fulfillment Centers are at the heart of Amazon’s rapidly growing business: they’re where we manage our fast-moving inventory. Our associate teams stow deliveries, pick products, package them up and ship them out: each of these groups have played their part in taking us where we are today.
In this crucial Health and Safety position, you’ll report into a Health and Safety Manager, as part of a shift-based role.
Key job responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
• Characterization/determination of waste including proper segregation, containerizing, labeling and preparing for shipment, in accordance with DOT and RCRA requirements.
• Physical maintenance and organization of the waste storage/management areas and all satellite accumulation areas, in accordance with regulatory requirements and applicable network policies.
• Re-ordering of equipment, containers, labels and other supplies from the waste vendor or other vendors to maintain proper stock levels.
• Ensure that required records needed to assist with policy-required waste recordkeeping, including waste generator logs and routine inspections, are being completed and maintained.
• Liaison with Site Safety teams, ICQA, ISS, Vendor Returns and facilities teams responsible for the proper management of hazardous chemicals and generation of hazardous and universal wastes.
• Support the Site Safety Team in preparing monthly waste inventory and identifying the necessary shipping frequency to comply with accumulation requirements.
• Researching trends, inventory loss and cost reduction efforts, where applicable.
• Must be trained to handle and process waste in accordance with RCRA, DOT, OSHA and state specific regulations and requirements.
• Must be trained in HAZWOPER and be available to assist with incidental spill/leak/release clean-up activities.
- High school or equivalent
- 1+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience
- Can lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
- Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
- Work 40 hours/week, and overtime as required
- - Experience with inventory, bin types, containers, and all tools used to move product throughout the warehouse.
- - Understanding of Receiving processes and operations.
