Business Intelligence (BI) enhances internal teams’ decision-making by providing data analysis and developing measures to extract meaning from Amazon Advertising’s global operations. We are seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer with strong analytical, visualization and communication skills to join our team. This role will be a working closely with Moderation and Relevance System (MARS) team to design, develop, maintain and automate the metrics and reporting for the team and perform analytical study on the business impacts of critical task. You will design, develop data infrastructure, evangelize, and implement state-of-the-art solutions for never-before-solved problems, helping the team build great products and solutions.

Key job responsibilities
* Design, develop and maintain scaled, automated, user-friendly systems, reports, dashboards, etc. that will support our internal partners.
* Partner with cross functional teams to collect data requirements.
* Manage the request intake process and prioritize different data tasks in partnership with all stakeholders.
* Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions.
* Participate in strategic & tactical planning discussions.
* Hands on with SQL and should be able to write and update complex SQL queries.
* Model data and metadata to support ad-hoc and pre-built reporting.

- Bachelor's degree in math/statistics/engineering or other equivalent quantitative discipline
- 2+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- Knowledge of BI analytics, reporting or visualization tools like Tableau, AWS QuickSight, Cognos or other third-party tools
- 2+ years of relevant work experience in Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Science, Data engineering
- Advanced Knowledge of SQL and its variants
- Advanced working knowledge of data mining using ETL, data warehouse as well as Excel
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and competing objectives in a fast paced environment

- Master’s degree in related field (Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, Economics or similar quantitative field)
- 4+ years of industry experience working as a BIE, DE or related specialty
- Knowledge in statistical programming languages such as R, SAS, Python
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience communicating and influencing across job levels

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $74,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $165,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
