Key job responsibilities
As part of the Analytics team, we build scalable data solutions to enable insight generation in addition to providing analytical support for flagship initiatives for our various products such as Visual Search, Shop The Look and More Like This. Example data solutions include 1) building a tool which allows business leaders to A/B test product launches and 2) building tools and dashboards to enable business and product leaders to derive product level and business insights as well as 3) operating, improving and maintaining data pipelines for a reliable flow of data that will allow BI engineers to perform data analytics operations.
A day in the life
As a BI Engineer in this team, you will co-own shaping the direction of Visual Search. You will work closely with business leaders to build the analytical roadmap. You will be comfortable making tough tradeoff decisions, helping define team vision and solutions. As a successful candidate, you will be able to interact with both technical stakeholders, setting tech requirements for engineering team, as well as business stakeholder to collaborate on business requirements and project outcomes.

You will be part of the Visual Search team. Our team comprises of designers, product managers, engineers, scientists and operators who obsess over customer problems and find inventive ways to solve them. Millions of Amazon shoppers use our Visual Search, StyleSnap and Augmented Reality products daily. Despite the millions of daily customers and the scale, we believe that it is Day One for Visual Search and Augmented Reality aided shopping experiences and you will be working on building the future with us.
- 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
- Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
- Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift
- Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
