Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

As a Software Development Manager (SDM) you will be responsible for owning the team’s roadmap and ensuring the strategic visions is executed. You will be responsible for gathering customer requirements, project prioritization, software quality, and system delivery. You will help mentor, develop, and the guide the engineers responsible for the system development.

As a SDM, you will lead and work with a talented team to innovate and deliver distributed software systems responsible for maneuvering the Kuiper satellites and for planning activities on them. You will work with engineering teams across ground and space systems to understand how the system functions and deliver an integrated solution to prepare for and execute the mission. Because of the scale of the mission, your team will be focused on creating performant applications and systems and driving operational excellence — identifying areas of improvement and initiating changes to improve the productivity of the fleet.

The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, an excellent communicator, have strong organizational skills, able to work independently, can juggle multiple tasks at once, and ensure deliverables meet requirements and deadlines. About the team
The Constellation Management & Mission Planning teams build the software services responsible for maintaining situational awareness of Kuiper satellites and planning activities for them over their entire lifecycle in space. We build automated systems that use relevant data to predict future orbits, plan maneuvers to avoid high risk close approaches with other objects in space, keep satellites in the desired locations, and exchange data with external organizations. We provide visibility information used to predict and establish communication channels for Kuiper satellites. We plan and schedule activities such that the satellites undergo maintenance without an impact to the Kuiper service.
