Description
As a GPU Micro-Architect, you define the fundamental building blocks of the next generation Apple GPU. You will define new micro-architectures and optimize existing ones while collaborating with experienced architects, designers, and modelers. The role requires the analysis of specific workloads across existing and new product categories to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement. As a member of the GPU micro-architecture team, you will collaborate to improve our processes and look for ways to boost the productivity of the entire team.
Minimum Qualifications
- We are looking for candidates with a BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience.
- Strong background in GPU, CPU, or SIMD architectures.
- Experience specifying micro-architectures.
- We believe that there is power in teams working together so you must have strong communication, influence, and negotiation skills.
- You will be setting direction thus you must be able to work in an environment of uncertainty and able to work through ambiguities.
- Proficiency in high performance, low power designs.
- Proficiency in VHDL/Verilog.
Key Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep expertise in one or more focused CPU/GPU areas. Areas could include ISA development, core/shader micro-architecture, texture pipeline, caching, or memory subsystem design.
- Experience with GPU APIs, OpenGL, OpenCL, DirectX, Metal.
- Proficiency in C/C++.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Perl, Python, and Ruby.
- We are a data driven group and believe in the power of individuals proving their own ideas; therefore we prefer you have relevant hands on experience with RTL or architectural modeling.

- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $166,600 and $296,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
