The Software Team in Health Technologies is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to strengthen our team and work on exploratory projects - investigating new physiological sensing methods, prototyping health product concepts, supporting data transfer and visualization from prototype sensors and hardware, and building research data collection systems.

Work closely with cross functional teams (e.g. Electrical/Firmware, Mechanical, Research, Data Science, Clinical Studies) in the joint goal of inventing, researching, and validating new health sensing methods and featuresCollaborate cross-functionally to understand data collection and consumption needs to support prototyping and research activitiesDesign software systems and solutions that support retrieval, exchange, transformation, storage and visualization of raw and processed data through both wired and wireless technologiesDevelop GUI based, background and command-line software through the implementation of software programs & apps, scripts, tools, services, daemons, libraries, components, frameworks, drivers and protocolsSupport engineering and clinical validation studies by developing, deploying and supporting device-based and cloud-based health data collection systemsUtilize appropriate existing and emerging (software) technologies to solve challenging problems like processing signal data, synchronizing data streams, deriving meaning from abstract data and creating health and sensor data visualizations leveraging traditional and emerging approaches (2D, 3D, immersive)Share in our team's pride and sense of accountability to deliver high quality, reliable, robust, secure, privacy aware and well designed software, data systems, tools and frameworksEnjoy and be comfortable with the process of working on new technologies in a research setting, years ahead of product launch cycles
Minimum Qualifications
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Informatics, or equivalent
- 8+ years of experience in Software Development
- Expert in Swift or Objective-C utilizing Apple technologies and frameworks (iOS/MacOS, SwiftUI/UIKit, SwiftData/CoreData, etc)
- Experience in establishing, documenting and presenting software requirements, architecture & detailed design
- Demonstrated technical leadership of software development projects

Preferred Qualifications
- Python or C/C++ experience highly desired
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in Health/Wellness, Medical Device or Biotech research or development
- Knowledge of transfer protocols (Bluetooth, WiFi, Ethernet, Serial, UART, I2C, SPI)
- Knowledge of Cybersecurity practices (e.g. OWASP)
- Experience working in Unix-type environments
- Conversant in digital signal processing techniques
- Understands, embraces and evangelizes software engineering best practices to assure high quality deliverables
- Continuous learner and teacher: proactively takes opportunities to improve themselves and others through knowledge sharing, process improvement and innovation

- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 and $250,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
