We apply labor economic principles and statistics to employment data to create analyses in support of Amazon’s internal/external pay equity programs and governmental statutory compliance reporting.

Key job responsibilities
• Retrieving, manipulating, and aggregating data from multiple sources and compiling it into easily digestible and actionable formats.
• Preparing statistical analyses and reports for internal stakeholders and governmental statutory/regulatory reporting requirements.
• Implementing reporting and auditing mechanisms to guarantee data integrity and accuracy.
• Creating processes to simplify, automate, and scale creation of analytical data sets to facilitate statistical analysis and reporting.
• Communicating complex technical material effectively, both verbally and in written form, to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Authoring and maintaining detailed technical documentation related to the projects you drive.
• Participating in strategic and tactical planning discussions with the team, including transforming business requirements into technical solutions, statistical modeling, and the development of working partnerships to support teams around the globe.

About the team
The Pay Equity Analytics & Compliance Team is responsible for equal pay analysis, pay equity analytics, and statutory pay equity reporting obligations across Amazon. We define Amazon's global strategy for pay equity analysis with consistent, best in class, analytics to inspect compensation decision making; and provide on-demand analyses to support employment legal counsel activities such as government audits and employment litigation matters. Additionally, the team manages Amazon's global statutory pay equity reporting including end-to-end project management; consultative support to business stakeholders and HR partners; data review and analysis; report submission; and translation of complex legislative requirements into actionable analytical models.

- 3+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience
- 2+ years of data scientist experience
- 3+ years of machine learning/statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques, and parameters that affect their performance experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment

- Experience in Python, Perl, or another scripting language
- Experience with AWS services including S3, Redshift, Sagemaker, EMR, Kinesis, Lambda, and EC2
- Experience developing experimental and analytic plans for data modeling processes, use of strong baselines, ability to accurately determine cause and effect relations
- Experience with data scripting languages (e.g. SQL, Python, R etc.) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, or Matlab)
- Knowledge of relevant statistical measures such as confidence intervals, significance of error measurements, development and evaluation data sets, etc.
- Experience analyzing compensation and other employment data.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
