The Global Corporate Employee Relations (GCER) team at Amazon is seeking an Employee Relations Manager to support the Amazon Stores organization. The position requires an individual who has significant employee relations experience, deep subject matter expertise, and strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. These competencies will enable the individual to work both independently to successfully manage a broad spectrum of ER issues and with employees and partners across Amazon’s wide geographic and cultural scope.

This is a full-time position that could require travel, up to ~30% of the time over the course of the year.

Key job responsibilities
Balancing time between reactive/crisis-response matters and proactive work is a critical component for success in the position. The individual will also lead the design, development and execution of proactive initiatives that improve the employee experience. Examples may include:
• Analyzing, diagnosing, designing, and revising people programs, policies, and practices to drive and sustain positive employee relations and best practices in partnership with PXT and the business
• Designing mechanisms to collect and analyze multiple levels of employee feedback and insights
• Deep diving data and metrics from multiple inputs to draft and deliver regular reporting and recommendations to senior PXT partners and business leaders
• Working directly with employees at all levels to identify, address and resolve concerns through conflict resolution and one-on-one coaching
• Designing and conducting positive employee relations trainings and other capability building initiatives

A day in the life
The central objective of the Global Corporate Employee Relations at Amazon team is to ensure our organization’s treatment of every employee is fair, respectful, and consistent with our core business values, policies and objectives as we Strive to be Earth’s Best Employer. To support that mission, this position’s responsibilities fall into proactive and reactive categories. Reactive responsibilities include leading the response to critical ER/LR issues, both individually and/or through a team. These matters are highly sensitive and typically must be successfully completed with limited time, such as conducting workplace investigations and advising on challenging employee situations. The Employee Relations Manager – Stores will also lead crisis-oriented responses, including de-escalating and resolving workplace issues and managing ER/LR escalations from senior business leadership, PXT, and/or legal stakeholders. When questions or concerns arise either 1/within the LR space or 2/in ER/LR matters outside of North America, the Manager works closely with their ER and LR peers to gather subject matter expertise, compile data and insights, and swiftly partner to provide strategy, guidance, and support to PXT leadership and the business.

• At least seven (7) years direct experience in employee relations, human resources or employment/labor law with an emphasis on employee relations work
• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience working with and applying employment & labor laws throughout the United States
• Experience assessing complex data sets, developing recommendations based on assessments, and influencing action by PXT and/or business leaders
• Technically proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint


• Advanced degree, law degree, or other specialized training in labor/employee relations
• Strong interpersonal and persuasion skills, enabling the individual to establish productive partnerships and work collaboratively across multiple management levels and personalities to influence senior leadership, stakeholders, peers and employees at all levels across a large, dispersed and culturally diverse organization
• Labor Relations knowledge and experience
• Outstanding written communication skills and the ability to independently develop effective executive level messaging, reports and presentations
• Proven problem solving and analytical skills in a highly ambiguous environment with the capacity to work autonomously to simultaneously manage competing priorities
• Experience working with quantitative and qualitative data to identify root causes, recognize patterns, and develop creative, innovative solutions for complex problems
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with extreme discretion

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,900/year in our highest geographic market.
