The AWS Data Center Finance team provides end-to-end financial support, driving AWS to be the lowest cost provider in Cloud computing and leader in customer experience. We are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Global Energy Finance team which falls under the AWS Energy and Sustainability Finance team. The AWS Energy team is responsible for (1) Delivering Energy to AWS Data Centers, (2) Procuring Renewable Energy to support our 100% Renewable Energy goal, and (3) Developing our Sustainability and Carbon Strategy. This team provides critical support in the form of financial valuation, investment decisions, and driving the global portfolio strategy for Amazon’s Energy and Renewable Energy portfolio.

We are looking for a Sr. Financial Analyst to support the end-to-end energy portfolio: energy deal valuation processes, financial planning and analysis (FP&A) reporting, energy opex and capex portfolio reporting, Month End Close processes, automation support, and more. Finance provides critical valuation support, thought leadership, financial acumen and controllership, and aids in critical decision making both at the deal and portfolio level. Note that the team has already invested in automation functionality for month end close and financial planning process, but we need to continue integrating our tools and systems to allow for end-to-end automation.

Key job responsibilities
In this role, you can expect to:
• Drive the reporting for our global energy opex and capex portfolio, including renewable energy
• Develop automated web-based tooling and financial reporting
• Report on the financial performance of our energy portfolio for monthly, quarterly, and annual reviews (including Month End Close and quarterly forecasting cycles)
• Drive the valuations for Carbon-Free Energy portfolio, evaluating new deals across global markets
• Present deal valuations and recommendations to Energy business partners, developing a deep knowledge of global energy markets

Preferred Qualifications:
• Energy experience is a plus, but not required
• Experience with financial controls and accounting
• Advanced modeling skills including advanced Excel skills; experience in financial valuation
• Understanding of energy markets, passion for renewable energy and sustainability preferred but not required
• Ability to work independently, partner cross-functionally, and be self-motivated in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workload
• A work ethic based on a strong desire to exceed expectations
• Ability to dissent, while building trust with your business partners
• Solid business judgment and controllership focus

- 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)

- 4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
- MBA, or CPA
- Knowledge of Tableau
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- 4+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience
- 4+ years of Accounts Receivable or Account Payable experience
