Amazon’s Tax Controversy team is seeking a Senior Tax Analyst to help coordinate and support ongoing domestic and foreign audits, and compliance matters handled by the Tax Department. Responsibilities will include a wide range of tasks, such as investigating and responding to internal and external information requests, preparing financial audit documentation, preparing presentations, coordinating responses for multiple audit requests, scheduling, and assistance as a document custodian. As a part of this role, the candidate will also focus on identifying areas of process improvements to help drive efficiencies.

The successful candidate will possess the ability to complete multiple concurrent projects at the same time with little guidance; react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick response; take effective action without always knowing all relevant information; and solve problems that affect people within the group or other related groups. This role has regular interaction with leaders in various business units across Amazon.


Key job responsibilities
- Preparing, planning and coordinating responses to information document requests, due diligence requests, and other similar inquiries from tax authorities.
- Preparing presentations on various tax issues to tax authorities.
- Coordinating communications with other Amazon Tax teams as well as other subject matter experts.
- Assisting with informational interviews of members in various business teams and functional interviews.
- Researching and documenting domestic and international tax issues, from a controversy perspective.
- Managing relationships with external advisors on tax controversy matters.
- Developing strong working relationships among cross-functional teams, including Legal, Accounting, HR, and other teams.
- Implementing and executing organizational processes to help the Tax Controversy Team meet its goal of continuous process improvements related to the team’s objectives.
- Extracting, organizing, and analyzing large quantities of financial data related to requests by tax authorities.


- Bachelor's degree
- 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
- Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department

- CPA, JD or other professional certification
- Direct experience in tax controversy
- Bias for action and ability to prioritize
- Detail oriented, highly organized, and self-motivated
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
- Effective interpersonal skills, including persuasive written and oral communication skills
- Experience at Amazon or a similarly complex, diverse, dynamic global organization
- Ability to perform detailed analysis of large data sets

The base pay for this position ranges from $57,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $123,500/year in our highest geographic market.
