One of the missions of our Data Center Engineering Team is to collaborate in the collection, analysis, and optimization of the IT and Data Center Infrastructure telemetry data. We are looking for a team oriented, logical mindset, forward-thinking, self-confident, experienced Data Engineer to join our team.
Description
You will work with large scale telemetry data across numerous infrastructure domains, undertaking in-depth quantitative analysis, identifying and resolving discrepancies to ensure data accuracy and completeness and distilling data into actionable and intuitive visualizations to drive informed engineering decision-making. The key objective is to make data meaningful and accessible to data center engineering and operations teams to optimize the performance of infrastructure and its assets. Responsibilities Lead and participate with team members to reach group’s responsibilities and objectives in the area of Data Center Infrastructure telemetry for power and cooling Collaborate across the data center infrastructure platforms for power, cooling, network, IT assets, service and asset security for data collection and analysis. Ownership from new telemetry device evaluation, qualification, implementation, quality, support and drive corrective actions with vendors Lead weekly reports, plans, and meetings with operations team to drive accurate and compliant reporting Ensure telemetry devices are Information Security compliant and develop plan to remediate as needed Create a library for documents, requirements, conceptual dashboards, algorithms, scripts, report generation and results Document data flow architecture and recommend improvements and refinements Cross validate telemetry to other infrastructure systems such as EPMS and BMS
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software or Computer Engineering, Statistics, or a related field or equivalent job-related experience
- 5+ year background in data science, or data visualization or statistical data analysis
- 3+ years of experience with at least one data science programming language such as Python
- Experience working with at least one database such as Postgres, MongoDB, Oracle, Redis, MySQL, Cassandra, Snowflake, DuckDB, etc.

- Proven experience in leading team to define project requirements, risks, effort and schedule
- Experience in working with data center infrastructure management and monitoring for power, cooling, network, and IT assets
- Understanding of three phase power and cooling basics a plus
- Proficient in Excel, Numbers, or other software to organize, analyze, visualize data
- Deep experience developing methods to extract, collect, cleanse, validate and analyze large data sets
- Demonstrated success developing algorithms or reports to analyze and cross correlate data from diverse systems
- Self starter, self driven, and can provide multiple options for a given analysis request

- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $140,700 and $234,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
