The Senior Risk Analyst is responsible for managing the lifecycle of complex cross-functional risk programs across Amazon's global operations, with a focus on AWS datacenters. You will be primarily focused on assessing and mitigating risks related to Amazon and AWS employees, operations, assets, and data. In this role, you will build and drive sophisticated risk assessments to inform and empower senior business leaders to more effectively protect their portfolios. You will partner with key business stakeholders within AWS Security, AWS Data Center Security, and other senior business leaders in various security organizations.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Defining and managing complex risk programs where the business problem, solutions, and risk strategy may not be well-defined
• Driving risk reduction and helping define risk strategies in relation to business problems
• Partnering with internal audit teams, policy owners, and compliance teams to interpret laws, regulations, and business policies
• Representing risk management programs to internal partners
• Providing long-term perspective and context for risk-related business and technology decisions
• Writing clear and compelling narratives and presenting them effectively to directors and Senior Managers
• Actively mentoring and developing team members
The ideal candidate is an experienced security specialist capable of working at all levels across the organization. You must have an extensive working knowledge of physical security principles and how those relate to practical application and real-world implementation of processes and measures. This includes experience with Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) concepts and principles. You should be skilled at planning, executing, and delivering products for both internal and external customers

A day in the life
At the heart of this role is a builder that engages their partners to aid in making high-velocity decisions using risk analysis. This involves a combination of healthy project management skills, interpersonal skills and a willingness to take on new challenges as emerging needs arise.
This builder will spend their day in a combination of online meetings with partners, collaboration sessions with peers, and individual project work time. They will be responsible for ad hoc inquiries and clarification requests that arise through and intake queue which they well help oversee.
About the team
The Special Programs, Evaluations, Assessments, and Response (SPEAR) Organization is chartered with evaluating, testing, and increasing the overall effectiveness of Amazon physical and technical security programs. SPEAR teams conduct holistic security evaluations and special testing engagements of Amazon facilities and wireless services. In addition to those core services, SPEAR conducts physical security adjudications and special projects, and drives physical and technical security policy for Amazon Security through demonstrated metrics.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 7+ years of experience in Physical Security Principles, Access Control, Intrusion Detection, and video surveillance and management systems
• 7+ years of experience collaborating with partner agencies/entities to complete complex missions
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
• Advanced project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2)
• Industry certification in security risk management (e.g., ASIS CPP, CSMP)
• 7+ years working both horizontally and vertically across various management structures
• Ability to travel internationally up to 50% of the time
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Security Management, Risk Management)
• Experience implementing Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)
• Advanced knowledge of continuous improvement cycles and analytical methodologies
• Expertise with risk, business continuity, and data management platforms (e.g., BSI, Audit board)
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience mentoring and developing team members
• Knowledge of global security regulations and standards
• Track record of successful stakeholder management at senior levels

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $107,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,700/year in our highest geographic market.
