POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Principal Engineer - Applications works strategically with product team stakeholders to align technology resources with business goals in the execution of technical strategy. They will be responsible for the analysis, design, development, and delivery of software solutions. They will implement and define requirements for new applications and customizations, adhering to and implementing standards, processes, and best practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides technical leadership across various application types, architectures, and software-development methodologies, offering strategic direction, and design leadership on complex engineering challenges.
  • Assumes responsibility for design and high-level implementation decisions across software engineering affecting the business domain or product team, ensuring technical excellence and adherence to best practices.
  • Partners with business and product teams to define and deliver new products and services that meet market needs and drive business growth.
  • Leads enterprise-wide initiatives, taking ownership of engineering decisions and execution to drive resolutions on strategic key technical challenges.
  • Oversees the development of IT service management strategies to improve the operational efficiency and user satisfaction of software systems, driving resolution of technical challenges with a service-centric approach.
  • Drives engineering productivity by ensuring high standards for code quality, engineering processes, and technology policy compliance within areas of responsibility.
  • Owns the design and implementation of the company's platform architecture, ensuring its scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Oversees the creation and management of robust, fault-tolerant integrations with both internal systems and external third-party systems.
  • Guides the development and improvement of the company’s platform software systems, including APIs and administrative web applications, focusing on seamless functionality and innovation.
  • Stays at the forefront of the evolving landscape of security, compliance, and regulatory requirements, ensuring proactive identification and mitigation of vulnerabilities.
  • Communicates effectively with senior executives, business stakeholders, and users, translating complex technical information into actionable insights.
  • Continuously monitors industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement within the company’s engineering function.
  • Partners with business and product teams to define and deliver new IT services, ensuring service levels and operational requirements are met.
  • Seeks and acts on formal and informal performance assessments, measuring personal progress against goals, and maintaining a focus on continuous growth.
  • Actively participates in ongoing training and development, contributing to personal growth and knowledge expansion.
  • Champions the company's mission and values, cultivating an accountable, innovative, and results-driven culture that fosters teamwork, trust, and respect.

What You Need:

Experience and/or Education: Degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics or equivalent industry experience is required. 8+ years of experience in a modern statically typed (Java, Scala, Go, etc.). Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, SQL and CSS. A strong grasp of data structures and algorithms. Experience working with / presenting to company executives. Successful track record in managing development organization with demonstrated thought-leadership, cross-functional influence, and partnership.
