We are looking to hire a Lab Engineer in Ring India within the Software/Firmware development organization, responsible for the Ring Lab that has core products including doorbell camera, security camera, and other new products.
Role:
The Ring Software/Firmware QA team is looking for a Device Lab Engineer to help and own the lab’s current capabilities and its expansion. The successful candidate will be obsessed with quality improvement, helping to generate and collect data to increase operational efficiency.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining all aspects of the Ring device labs, supporting spaces and equipment resources, including hardware and software, updating all lab infrastructure, equipment, and software configurations.
- Ensuring availability of test equipment and parts, understanding customer use cases, and possessing strong device/system troubleshooting skills down to component and software levels.
- Organizing and maintaining stock of critical test equipment, third-party devices, and prototype devices for troubleshooting and debugging.
- Monitoring our lab ticket queue, triaging, troubleshooting, and resolving incoming tickets within established timelines.
- Providing detailed data and communications in trouble tickets and being relentless in the documentation and communication of system processes.
- Generating service metrics using scripts and/or documentation.
- Working with all stages of prototype devices, debugging connectivity, and moving devices between development stages within the lab.
- Imaging/Re-Imaging computers (Amazon Images, Non-Amazon Images).
- Troubleshooting hardware and software across Linux, Android, iOS, and FireOS.
- Composing technical documents for operational excellence and operational troubleshooting.
- Flashing prototype devices to software builds required by our customers.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
* 1+ years of experience in a Consumer Electronics lab environment.
* 1+ years experience organizing and maintaining stock of critical test equipment, third-party devices, and prototype devices for troubleshooting and debugging.
* 1+ years experience in project management skills including resource planning, managing schedules, reporting project status, and prioritizing own tasks and those of other team members for multiple projects.
* 1+ years experience with SQA methodology and tools.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience with embedded systems, consumer devices, or mobile apps.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of working effectively with development engineering and other functions.
* Superior analytical skills, including a strong ability to identify and solve ambiguous problems.
* A basic understanding of network troubleshooting.
* Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
