LibLab is an engineering company, by developers, for developers. Founded in 2022, LibLab was created to transform how client libraries are made. Building and maintaining SDKs in multiple at the same time is hard to get right. LibLab takes care of all of its clients SDK needs and helps them generate, maintain, and monitor their SDKs. Our product allows our clients to build developer-friendly, human-readable SDKs in minutes.

LibLab has raised north of $50 million in venture funding from Insight Partners, Zeev Ventures, Stepstone, Rainfall and Sheva. We are looking for an engineering leader to help us as we scale our software development team.

About The Role

LibLab is looking for a Director of Engineering who will play a critical role for leading the engineering team in successfully delivering solutions to our customers. As the Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for the overall engineering strategy, roadmap, and design of our engineering efforts.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience as a hands-on software engineer as well as with leading engineering teams and driving technical initiatives. We are looking for a leader who is passionate about building innovative technologies, is customer-focused, and is able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

You will collaborate closely with the product team, ensuring that the engineering team is delivering solutions that exceed customer expectations and align with the product roadmap. You will lead a team of talented and motivated engineers, providing technical guidance and mentorship while driving continuous improvement in quality, productivity, and performance.

Our office is located in northwest Austin (close to Cedar Park).

What You’ll Be Doing

  1. You successfully build and lead a high-performing engineering team, ensuring the recruitment and retention of top engineering talent.
  2. You partner with the recruitment team to build a recruitment strategy and ensure the selection of top engineering talent.
  3. You provide mentorship and coaching to engineering leaders empowering them to reach their career goals.
  4. You provide strategic direction and guidance to engineering managers and team leads, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
  5. You provide strategic direction and recommendations for complex, highly technical products that will require iteration and scale over time.
  6. You develop and execute the technical roadmap for our products and services, aligning it with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  7. You collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, sales, and design, to define product requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
  8. You drive architectural decisions, ensuring the scalability, reliability, and performance of our systems.
  9. You establish and maintain engineering processes and practices that enable efficient and effective development and delivery of our products.
  10. You monitor and improve engineering productivity, quality, and efficiency, utilizing metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive improvements.
  11. You foster a culture of open communication, transparency, and knowledge sharing within the engineering team.
  12. You thrive on a high level of autonomy and responsibility.
  13. You encourage a healthy work environment that’s both supportive and challenging.
  14. You lead by example, by setting the right context, and by helping teammates do their best work.

You’ll Be a Good Fit If You Have

  1. You have at least 10 years of experience in engineering leadership, preferably in a high growth B2B SaaS company. That is, you've led managers of other managers.
  2. You've scaled engineering teams to 70+ persons.
  3. You have experience in Developer tools companies.
  4. You have experience managing other managers and leading strategic company initiatives.
  5. Previous experience successfully leading and scaling teams of full stack engineers and engineering leaders.
  6. You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience.

Nice To Have

  1. Experience in writing client libraries and SDKs.
  2. Familiarity with professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing and operations.
