Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. We are looking for a talented lawyer to join the Amazon Legal team supporting Project Kuiper.

Key job responsibilities
You will work closely with the Kuiper commercial business development team as counsel on global strategic partnership and enterprise customer deals, with a focus on deals with mobility partners and customers. You will structure, draft, and negotiate a range of agreements, including agreements to sell Kuiper services and customer terminals. You will also counsel the business team on legal issues related to Kuiper’s commercial business operations. The successful candidate will develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways and build processes that address risk and allow the business flexibility and freedom to move quickly.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about technology, enjoys being continually challenged, and demonstrates sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.

This position will be based in Arlington, VA or Redmond, WA. Some travel, domestic and international, will be required.

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- 5+ years of legal experience
- Experience in transactional and technology licensing or equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure, outsourcing, telecommunications, cloud computing services or equivalent
- 2+ years experience drafting and negotiating technology transactions or other complex transactions

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
