We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Software Systems Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will define, document, test, and validate complex software systems, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and scalability. This role requires a deep understanding of system architecture, software integration, and a passion for solving challenging technical problems in a collaborative environment. This position is based out of our Falls Church, VA office and is classified as a full-time, exempt, non-supervisory position.

Experiences and Background We Look For:
- Holds TS/SCI clearance.
- Build and enhance automated testing infrastructure to streamline and scale quality assurance for multiple programs.
- Must be able to code in Python.
- Create automated test scripts and integrate automated test suite as part of each pull request.
- Develop detailed test plans and procedures, ensuring all necessary data and resources are available.
- Execute all phases and types of testing: user story testing, end-to-end testing, regression testing of releases, and performance testing.
- Document findings, generate test reports, and present results to stakeholders.
- Create and maintain detailed software documentation to include, but not limited to, release notes, user guides, training material, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Play an active role in troubleshooting system level failures amongst a diverse team of engineers and technicians.
- Partner with software developers and internal stakeholders to plan, coordinate, and execute testing and release efforts.
- Degree background in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Physics, or Math.
- 9+ years of experience with BS/BA, 7+ years with MS/MA, or 4+ years with PhD.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Confluence & JIRA.
- Experience with Squish/Jenkins/GIT (or a willingness to learn).
- Experience with C++.
- Assist in the development of requirements derivation, requirements traceability, systems integration & test, performance verification.
The salary range for this role is $126,000 to $163,000; however, Areté considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to: the position and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.

- U.S. citizenship is required to meet position eligibility.
- Selected applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
