(Learn more about SCOT: http://bit.ly/amazon-scot)The Inventory Placement team is seeking an innovative, entrepreneurial Principal Product Manager (Principal PM-T). This role will be responsible for driving product vision and strategy for key Placement team outcome metrics, and working cross-functionally at all levels to deliver high impact improvements and improve inventory placement for our customer .You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Operations, Business Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, and Supply Chain to build and refine metrics that measure and enhance the performance of inventory placement strategies.Key job responsibilities-Own the Product Metrics: Define, develop, and own inventory placement metrics that guide product placement decisions across the supply chain and fulfillment network.-Optimize Inventory Placement: Work closely with operations and supply chain teams to optimize how products are allocated across warehouses and distribution centers to improve speed, cost, and customer satisfaction.-Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze and interpret large sets of data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement in inventory placement. Drive actionable insights to improve performance.-Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, data science, and operations teams to implement tools and systems that improve the accuracy and efficiency of inventory placement.-Define Success Metrics: Establish KPIs that measure the success of inventory placement strategies, including metrics like order fulfillment speed, stockouts, excess inventory, and customer satisfaction.-Continuous Improvement: Drive the ongoing iteration of inventory placement strategies by testing and scaling new models, evaluating performance, and suggesting new methods of improvement.-Stakeholder Communication: Present findings, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership and key stakeholders to ensure alignment on inventory placement goals and initiatives.-Customer Focus: Ensure that inventory placement decisions support the overall customer experience by ensuring product availability and quick delivery.About the teamOur Inventory Placement team owns the systems that decide where in Amazon's fulfillment network to put inventory for the millions of products that Amazon sells. We build optimization models to make these placement decisions driven by signals such as forecasted customer demand, the cost and speed of shipping from each warehouse to each customer, and the available capacity at various points in our network. Inventory placement is central to achieving Amazon's objectives to minimize the cost of fulfillment while offering selection to customers at the fastest possible delivery speeds. Our systems are built entirely in-house, and are on the cutting edge in automated large scale supply chain planning and optimization systems. We're simultaneously developing the science of supply chain planning and solving some of the toughest computational challenges at Amazon.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition- Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product- Experience technical product management- Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning- Expertise in data analysis, business intelligence, and working with large datasets to derive actionable insights.
