As a Systems Engineer in the Data Center Procurement Governance (DCPG), you will play a critical role in turning that vision into reality, and keep our mission-critical IT systems running smoothly!

As a System Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining our core systems and tools infrastructure owned by DCPG in supporting Data Center Procurement customers. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements, evaluate emerging technologies, and engineer solutions that meet our high standards for performance, security, and reliability. Our systems and tools are key to enable our procurement operations, so keeping these running effectively will enable our Data Center procurement customers to focus on what they do best.



Key job responsibilities
1.System Maintenance - monitor, maintain health and performance of systems, such as perform and support software updates, patches, upgrades
2.System Administration - manage user access, access permissions and authentications and troubleshooting
3.Automation and Scripting - develop and maintain automated scripts, workflows to streamline repetitive tasks, improve operational efficiency
4.Vendor Management and Procurement - liaise with IT service providers to ensure optimal performance and align with business requirements, manage contracts, SLAs and procurement processes
5.Documentation and Knowledge Sharing - Maintain comprehensive documentation on system configurations, processes and troubleshooting procedures, share knowledge and best practices
6.Technical support and training to end-users to ensure efficient, high user adoption of IT systems

You will operate effectively and drives process and structure without constraining business objectives. You have a demonstrated track record in technical support. As this role will support global customers, supporting customers outside of US timezones will be needed on a needs-basis. You are a highly collaborative player who is a self-starter and able to work independently. Through your can-do attitude, you will be able to gain trust with customers.
To be successful, you must balance customer responsiveness, getting things done with ensuring right advice for business impact and outcomes. You need to be a collaborative team player that is highly customer and improvement focused.


A day in the life
This role has a global scope so there is no standard day. There is much variety in the day, from stand-up meetings with your S&T teams in the US on the week's pipeline of activities, attending to customer requests for access, checking customer ticket logs, to testing out system upgrades and feature enhancements for customers to ensure quality and assurance. You may also deep dive into opportunities to improve user adoption of tools. You will also be tasked to work on multiple projects across multiple teams, stakeholders and customers.

About the team
About the team Data Center Procurement Governance (DCPG) is a global function that comprises of 5 main global programs. This role sits in the Procurement Systems, Tools & Data Solutions team. This team is responsible for defining and driving procurement’s IT infrastructure and roadmap. They advise on all future uses of IT into our procurement specific processes. The team manages and owns the procurement platform for supplier onboarding and RFX. The team manages projects to drive process improvements and efficiencies through automation, data dashboarding and visualisation, and systems integration.

-Amazon Customer Excellence System (ACES): ACES define a culture of continuous improvement across the procurement function
-Procurement Risk & Compliance Program: Responsible for increasing compliance with and adherence to the functions’ processes and policies
-Supplier Risk Program: Manage and iterate on our third-party supplier risk program to enable the identification, qualification, mitigation and monitoring of risks across the AWS datacenter construction supply chain
-Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) Program: Supports the business with a platform to measure, benchmark and develop supplier performance, ensure AWS meets regulatory obligations under SOC2.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

2+ years of technical support experience

Proficient troubleshooting and anticipating problems that affect the performance, reliability, or availability of software systems

Proficient executing standard operating procedures and following operational best practices

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working cross-organizationally and leading strategic team efforts requiring work from multiple team members

Experience with SQL, Tableau and SalesForce

Experience scripting in modern programming languages
Bachelor’s degree in engineering

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $74,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $188,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
