ENGINEERING & MAINTENANCE MANAGER – Heavy Industry
We are looking for an Engineering and Maintenance Manager with experience in a high-volume, complex metal operation, for our client’s operation in Kalamazoo.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS Include:

  • 7+ years leading a Maintenance & Engineering organization in a high-volume Manufacturing/Production heavy industry environment with automation.
  • Must be data-driven with a strong financial acumen.
  • TPM & Proven Reliability experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • Project Management & Project Development experience.
  • Ability to put systems into place.
  • Strong PC skills, including Windows, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work in teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • CMMS and CPMM experience.

EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or similar field.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Include:

  • Responsible for administering and continuously improving an effective Work Management System, ensuring all facility manufacturing assets' effectiveness, reliability, and sustainability, and leading the Project Engineering Team.
  • Ensure plant manufacturing equipment operates reliably by deploying preventive and predictive maintenance practices and reliability analytics.
  • Focus on driving sustained improvement across the plant in the areas of maintenance business process improvements to world-class standards.
  • Establish and plan for all training that will ensure all members of the maintenance and project engineering departments are aligned with company, plant, and department objectives.
  • Successful in change management centered on lean manufacturing focused on asset reliability.
  • Act as an organizational change agent focused on driving operational controllable costs and achieving Earned/Forecast departmental spending.
  • Cost conscience and results-driven system manager who utilizes data to drive efficiency and effectiveness to improve customer satisfaction while achieving spending.
  • Facilitate advanced Reliability Engineering tools/techniques with emphasis on advanced Problem Solving methods using the DMAIC methodology.
  • Assist Plant Manager in making operational system design improvements to reduce costs and to increase productivity.
  • Utilize new technology and Lean Manufacturing principles and processes to maximize efficiency (FMEA, Six Sigma, Kaizen, DMAIC Problem Solving, etc.).
  • Plan, manage and execute capital asset program in compliance with Annual Operating Plan and established policy.
  • Initiation of Cost Saving Initiatives (CSIs) including management of utilities and equipment that demonstrate improvements in costs, uptime, quality, and safety.
  • Develop a work environment within manufacturing that promotes trust, teamwork, quality, and safety.
  • Assign accountability, build teams, hire, develop, evaluate, train, coach, and discipline with Corrective action as needed.
  • Determine opportunities to improve machine uptime and identify areas in need of future engineering project focus.
  • Problem identification and resolution through hands-on problem-solving or ongoing employee development.
  • Schedule, monitor, and manage (through Maximo) that all monthly, quarterly, and annual TPM is completed on time.
  • Drive continuous improvement of all TPM routines based on MTBF data and technological improvements as well.
  • Communicate and monitor the SQDC performance, daily work habits, and responsibilities of the Maintenance Mechanics in your department.
  • Support and lead the Contracting Out process with the USW.
